In November our family held a baby shower for my youngest daughter Sarah. With a fantasy/Harry Potter type theme we came up with a festive shower with a brunch type menu that I wanted to share. We love planning events with food to match the theme.
We created little snitches with Ferrero Rocher candy, decorated
with velum and nestled them in pink bassinets we found at Dollar tree.
The mantel had fairy silhouettes, a welcome muggle banner, and various fall decor. A vintage over sized cardboard book was transformed into a Harry Potter themed centerpiece with clocks and cameras adding to the decorations .
The lamp above the food table was decorated with keys that had wings.
The Menu was inspired by English teas. Listed below is what we made.
Cucumber and Dill Tea Sandwiches
Herbed Chicken Salad in puff pastry cups
Carmelized Onion Mushroom Gruyere Tartlets
Savory Cheese Thumbprint Cookies with Bourbon Tomato Jam
Caprese Skewers
Spinach Salad with candied pecans and feta, with a vinaigrette
Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Dip
Chex Mix
Grapes
Vegi Tray
Mini pineapple upside down cakes
Lemon Tartlets
Vanilla bean scones
Mini Chocolate Bundts w/ganache
We served a 7UP, lemonade and sherbert punch along with coffee, tea and apple cider
The whole family chipped in and made this event incredibly unique and wonderful. We played a baby bingo game while presents were opened that was so much fun because everyone interacted with one another.
Looking forward to planning our next event which is a cookoff for Oscars. The challenge is create a dish from a movie that either won or was nominated in a year ending in 8. We will be sure to post some of our winning dishes after the event.
